My Sheep Hear My Voice

February 9, 2017

“My sheep hear my voice” is what the scripture says, not “my sheep can hear My voice” or “My sheep should hear My voice” but that they do hear His voice. Note also that God directs His voice to His sheep. He doesn’t say “My intelligent follower”, or “the popular or kind”. No, He says, “My sheep”. The sheep knows the sound, the inflection, of its shepherd’s voice. So we are to know the voice of God in our life as a Christian. How does God speak to us, His sheep? Clearly He speaks through His Word. Read it, study it, and listen to it.

John 10:3b (KJV) “…the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them… “

John 10:14 (KJV) “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”

Make It Personal

February 7, 2017

Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.”

In life, we need the help of Christ to stay focused, so make His Word personal. Say the verse above, Colossians 3:17 by using your name and personal pronouns. An example is below.

Whatever (your name) does in word or in deed, let me do all in the name of Jesus and give thanks to God my Father through Jesus.

Transformation

February 6, 2017

Being willing to let the Lord change us is an important part of our growth. In Romans 12:1-2, God tells us three things on how we can partner with Him for internal and external change. 1) Present your life, your work and your ministry to Him, 2) Don’t follow the pattern of the world, as you might miss out on the radical changes He wants for you and 3) Renew your mind. This can be done by staying in the Scriptures and praying.

Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

Why Worry?

February 1, 2017

To worry means to have an excessive concern over something. It is a sin because it displaces God in your life. It also distracts you from what really matters. Worry dominates your time from where it needs to be.

Here is a simple test to know if you are worrying about something…  1) Is it the first thing on your mind when you wake up and the last thing on your mind when your go to bed?      2) In your spare time, your time to relax, do you start thinking about it?

Take your cares, burdens, anxieties to God. He said for us to cast them on Him…. ALL of them! So why worry? Give it to God. He truly cares.

I Peter 5:7 (KJV)   Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

Plans

January 30, 2017

Planning is something most people do to make sure they stay on task. God has plans for each of us too. In the Scriptures, Jeremiah speaks of thoughts the Lord has for us, plans of peace and prosperity. But did you realize that Satan has plans for you as well? Satan is after your name and reputation. When you wake up every morning, he has already plotted how to come against you that day. You have a choice. Whose plan are you going to follow? Call on the Lord for help and guidance in every day.

Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)      Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Eternal Security

January 29, 2017

What a wonderful Savior Jesus is. He warns us against things that Satan will use to harm us or cause us to question God. Satan wants to steal our purpose, vision, joy, and family through doubt and discouragement. One thing Satan cannot steal from a Christian is salvation. When you trust Christ as your Savior, believe He died on the cross for your sins and repent, you are accepting the gift of Salvation which is your eternal security.

Romans 8:38-39 (KJV)     For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Unshakable

January 23, 2017

Some of the staff and Senior Servants of SOS Events attended a conference, looking forward to growing deeper in the knowledge of the Lord. One Scripture reference taught was Psalm 62:6, giving focus on the fact that you can be unshakable when you let God steady your life. When you are out of balance in just one area of life whether emotionally, mentally, physically or spiritually then you become wobbly like a four legged table with one short leg. Look to God to help you in every aspect of your life. You can be unshakable in Him.

Psalms 62:6 (KJV)

He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

Do It Now

February 8, 2016

James 4:14  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
The Bible says that our life here on earth is short and implies that death is unpredictable. How true. That is why we must take advantage of every moment we have.
The most important thing is to be ready. Do you think you have time and are waiting to be saved? Don’t wait any longer. Today may be your last opportunity to ask Jesus to forgive you.

Have unresolved problems in a relationship? Tomorrow may be to late. Restore your broken friendship today.

Things to do you have been putting off until a more convenient time? Do it now.

Give your spouse, child or friend a hug today and tell them how much you love and appreciate them. You have today. Don’t waste it.

Your Calling

November 11, 2014

Are you thankful to be where you are in life? It may not be a place of your choosing, but God has you there for a reason.
You may be a student that is struggling with studies or relationships, maybe you are a young adult with problems you feel you cannot understand. Middle age brings different things that may be great but with more responsibility than you would like, or the later years when illness or loneliness is your lot in life right now.
God wants to use you where you are and He has allowed you to be exactly where you are.
Be thankful! If you thank Him for your “calling” He will reveal to you His plan and purpose.
Read I Corinthians 7:20-24

1 Corinthians 7:20
Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
