One of the things we can be thankful for is quiet. The dictionary meaning is: “Lack of noise, commotion, clamor, distraction. A peaceful state or condition.”
Dr. Charles Stanley says to have a place that is totally quiet and dark when you pray and want to hear from God.
Susanna Wesley would put her apron over her head so the children would know not to disturb her when she prayed.
Our lives are so full of noise. TV, machines, traffic, phones, etc. that it is hard to have the time and quiet place to get alone with God, but it is essential for a close relationship with Him.
If you do not have the time, (you think) get up earlier than your family and read some scripture and just be still and listen for God to speak to you.
It is wonderful to have quiet and feel God’s presence with you.
Psalms 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God:
