Joseph a Lesson in Obedience

December 16, 2013

Joseph listened to the angel and then obeyed even though he knew that there would be consequences for taking Mary to be his wife. We sometimes forget that the Biblical people were just men and had the same feelings and temptations we have in our lives. Joseph is a good example for us to follow.
Matthew 1:20
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Joseph, God’s Perfect Choice

Do you ever think of Joseph when reading the Christmas story? What a kind man. Even before the angel came to visit him he had compassion on Mary. God’s perfect choice for a husband for her. Remind them that Jesus is the one who can bring comfort to their heart, but don’t get preachy.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
