Wait on The Lord

June 25, 2014

Psalms 27:14
Wait on the Lord:
be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:wait, I say, on the Lord.
Sometimes it is hard to wait on the Lord for something we want or need. Tom Curtis ( founder of SOS) has been ill for 6 weeks and had to stay in bed most of that time.
He knew to be well he had to wait until The Lord gave him strength.today he is able to go to the conference that SOS is participating in at Saint Petersburg, Fl. Praise The Lord.

Prayer Needed

June 24, 2014

This week SOS Events is participating in a Christian Conference held in Saint Petersburg, Fl. Prayer is needed as pastors and laymen walk by our booth that they may see the need to evangelize in the marketplace.
Most people will not come to a gospel preaching church if they are not saved and we need to go to them.
The time is short!! Everyday we see that maybe soon we as Christians will not have the freedom to be in public places to proclaim the gospel.
The group that is in St. Pete this week could make a difference all over the country if they would just get a vision of the lost souls in America.
Please pray with us for new commitments this week.

John 9:4
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day:the night cometh, when no man can work.

Salvation, Then Change

June 22, 2014

“Practically every false doctrine comes from getting things out of order. God’s divine order is salvation, then change; not change and then salvation! If one has to be changed to be saved, that’s salvation by works. It is also salvation by the flesh. The truth is, one is cleansed from the sins of the flesh just as he is saved; by yielding to the Holy Spirit and letting Him do His work.” ~Jack Hyles
When witnessing we often hear excuses why a person can not be saved now. A common excuse is “I need to quit _____________ before I can be saved.
(You fill in the blank)
Have you ever heard the expression, Putting the card before the horse?
The above quote is exactly right. A person is never good enough to be saved, that is why Jesus died to pay for our sins. When witnessing pray that the Holy Spirit will convict the person to understand that salvation is by accepting Christ, not by changing their lifestyle.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Beyond the USA

SOS does have influence in countries outside the USA. Pictured here is one of the team from Germany who came to Florida, was trained with SOS staff and went to the Farmers market in Plant City, Fl.
Five people made decisions for Christ.
SOS also has missionaries from England, Philippines and Yugoslavia using the “3 Things God Can Not Do” displays to interest people in the gospel.
Several invitations have come from various countries but at this time there is none of our staff able to go, however, God does send them to us.
We pray as Jabez prayed, increase our coast.

1 Chronicles 4:10  And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

Are You To Busy?

June 18, 2014

“We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little; many services but few conversions; much machinery but few results.” ~R.A. Torrey
Individuals today are too busy to serve God. SOS needs people to go into the marketplace to win souls to The Lord. We are thankful for the dedicated people who do go, but if there were Christians who would go just 5 hours a week or a month hundreds more lost souls could be saved.
Churches are also guilty of being too busy. They have programs instead of power, preaching instead of prayer ( nothing wrong with preaching, but where have the old time prayer meetings gone). Forty percent of fundamental churches that do not see even one soul save in a year.
Are you too busy to hand out a tract, pray for someone in need, visit the sick, encourage someone who needs a friend, witness to your neighbor or stop and talk to The Lord in true worship?
We need to spend our time wisely. Once it is gone we cannot reclaim it.

The news today could be a chapter out of the Bible on the end times. Wars, rumors of war, severe weather in unusual places, violence, chaos, unrest in the Middle East and much more news that is predicted in scripture.
The bright side of the news is: Jesus is coming. We don’t know the time. It could be today. This is good news for those of us who are born again.
Fellow Christian, the hour is late. We must be tell others who may not be saved how they can accept the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, who paid their sin debt. Today, tell the good news to someone. Tomorrow it may be too late.

Luke 21:25-28
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth:for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

The First Ammendment

In the United States of America “citizens” have rights given to us by the Constitution. When we see anyone and particularly politicians trying to take away those rights we must speak up and stand up for our freedoms.
Be thankful that we have those rights. In other countries people are jailed and even put to death for speaking negatively about the government, preaching the gospel or even going to church.
Today, just for a moment, stop and thank The Lord for freedom.
Some read this blog that do not live in the USA. We are praying for you our brothers and sisters in Christ who may not have the freedom we do. Whatever our circumstances we are free in Christ as the Bible says.
1 Corinthians 7:21-22
Art thou called being a servant? care not for it:but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman:likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant.

The Love Of God

June 12, 2014

What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? Today, my first thought was actually the first line in the chorus of a hymn, “The love of God, how rich and pure, how measureless and strong.”
God’s love for me is so strong that no matter where I am in life, happy, sad, hurting, obedient, disobedient, discouraged, He still loves me.
He not only sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to take away ALL my sins, He meets all my needs. He loves me! He loves you!
So, today, first thing I praise Him for His love. Will you join me by praising Him right now?

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Just As I Am

June 11, 2014

Are you ever frustrated that you can’t do more for Jesus? That you don’t have anything special to offer?

Charlotte Elliott, the author of the hymn, “Just As I Am,” certainly felt that way. She had been a brilliant and vivacious woman until an illness left her an invalid. Her situation left her quite depressed. She felt that she no longer had anything to offer — nothing to give.

But a pastor, Dr. Caesar Malan, came to visit her. Noting her despair, he encouraged her to give Christ her life — to come to Christ just as she was. That comment started a turnaround for her. While she remained an invalid, she began to search for ways to make her life meaningful.

And Dr. Malan’s words stayed with her — “Come to Christ just as you are.” Several years later, she wrote this hymn, which has become a favorite around the world. While she wrote more than a hundred hymns, this one in particular has affected more lives than she ever could have imagined.

So if you ever wonder what you can do to make your life meaningful, just put it in Christ’s hands and go where he leads. Christ has a way of using ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
