Trying To Lose Weight?

August 28, 2025

Many of us are trying to loose weight. We diet, exercise, and try to stay away from food that will keep us from our goal.

The Bible says we have weight that we need to get rid of and it is called sin. We need to decide to loose the “weight” of sin in our lives. Jesus said He is the bread of life. We must first trust Him to take away our sin.

Then a good exercise is to read the Bible and pray everyday. Then put away anything that will keep sin in our lives. It may be wrong friends, or a bad habit, or going to places where we are tempted to pick up our sin again. Let us loose the weight we need to both physical and spiritual.

John 6:48 I am that bread of life. Hebrews 12:1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

God’s Beautiful Creation!

August 22, 2025

If God gives you the privilege of traveling. Wherever you go you will see the beauty God has created.

Not only the natural beauty, but the wisdom that God gave to man to develop ways to travel. Planes, trains, boats, cars, buses and various ways we can get from one place to another.

Then, there are the wonderful man made structures. Monuments, buildings, churches and all kinds of artifacts.

If you can travel in person or see the wonders on TV, books or magazines, as a believer, it is easy to see God’s wisdom and praise Him for His wonderful creation.

Are Your Word Acceptable?

August 14, 2025

Are your words acceptable not only in God’s sight but in the lives of your loved ones and friends?

Sometimes we can act holy and righteous in front of others but at home or in the workplace it’s a different story.

We have to guard our tongues and speak kindly when we are in public or more importantly when we are with our loved ones.

God hears every word that comes out of our mouth. It is a matter of the heart.

Today, make this verse your prayer and practice. “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer” Psalm 19:14

Where Is Your Affection?

August 3, 2025

This is a great verse for today. When we go to church to worship, or are having our daily devotions, we are not concentrating on the message or what God is trying to tell us.

Instead, we are thinking about our problems, what needs to be done, or maybe about our plans for vacation, family fun or other activities that have nothing to do with Heavenly thoughts.

All of us have done this many times but we need to ask God to forgive us and help us to keep our thoughts centered on what God is telling us.

Set you affection (love) on things above, not on worldly things.

Therapy!

July 16, 2025

Have you ever had therapy for a broken bone or strained muscle? That can be painful but necessary for complete healing.

We sometimes need spiritual therapy. We have not been seeking God for the difficult time in our lives. We find ourselves blaming God for our trouble or difficulties.

What is the remedy for a broken spirit? God’s Word. Prayer. Repentance. Not just a little bit but every day consistently. Sometimes it hurts, but we need to keep on doing it.

God is faithful. Just as He heals a broken body, He also can heal a broken heart.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Psalm 34:18

A Cure For Discouragement!

July 14, 2025

Thinking of something to encourage those who read this blog, I chose a book on hymns, “Then Sings My Soul” by Robert J. Morgan.
He wrote a forward “The Cure For Shot Nerves”. Thinking that is a catchy title, I read what he wrote about how the old hymns can calm the spirit and help bring peace to the soul.

It is rare in some churches to even hear the old hymns anymore and that is sad.
“In the Garden” He walks with me/ and He talks with me/ and tells me I am His own.
“Jesus Loves Me”, “Amazing Grace”, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and many more that encourage the heart.

Today, if you are stressed, feeling overwhelmed, or just plan discouraged, think of your favorite hymn and sing it, hum it or just let it flood your mind with how good God is, and soon you will find the comfort you need.

How Is Your Church Doing?

Texas Tragedy

July 9, 2025

Girls at a Christian Camp, families at home, groups camping, people doing ordinary things. Never expecting that this may be their last day. The last time to say I Love You to their spouse or child. A true tragedy. Please pray for the families who lost loved ones.

This is the time to stop and think. What about today? We could be going about our day and not know how our life could change in just a few minutes.

Are you ready? Have you anyone you need to forgive? Someone you need to tell them how much you love them? Most importantly, have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? This could be your last day.

For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

Happy Independence Day!

July 4, 2025

May God continue to bless the USA. This can only happen if we as citizens put God first in our lives.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

God Provides!

June 27, 2025

The lights went out in the rehab center where Carolyn Curtis is recovering from surgery with a broken ankle.

The nurse came in to check on her but had no light to be able to take blood pressure and other things she needed.

The day before, a doctor came in to check Carolyn’s foot and did not realize he dropped his flashlight.

Carolyn found it in the folds of her blanket. It was put on the dresser so the doctor could come and get it, but he didn’t.

So, there it was for the nurse to use while the lights were off. Some people might say coincidence, but we know it was God’s provision.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
