Why?

January 31, 2016

Do you ever get discouraged? Do you wonder why something is happened in your life that you don’t understand?
That is exactly what happened yesterday to Tom Curtis. When he awoke he found the vaccum pump that is on his leg to help a wound heal was not working. Just the day before the home health nurse had come to change the dressing and everything was fine when she left. Now an alarm went off and nothing worked. After doing everything in the instruction book to solve the problem there was nothing left to do but call for another nurse to come and fix it. Discouraged and wondering why, there was nothing that Tom could do but pray and trust the Lord.
About two hours later, in walked a new Home healthcare nurse, whose name is John. John changed the tubing on the pump and everything worked fine. Tom, never letting an opportunity to witness go by, asked John if he knew for sure he was going to go to heaven.

John said he did not know, but that just two days ago another patient had asked the same question. Tom told John that God was working on his heart and it’s time for him to trust in Jesus. John agreed and in just a few minutes accepted Jesus as his Savior. As you can see from the picture both Tom and John are happy about that decision.

Discouragement turned to joy and complete understanding why God allowed a trial to come into Tom’s life.

2 Timothy 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

3 Birthdays

January 27, 2016

January 27th is a date marked on the calendar as special because in the family there are 3 birthdays. There are Birthday wishes, cards, presents as these 3 are celebrating their physical birth, but there is a more important birthday to celebrate in all of their lives. That is their second birthday. That birthday is a Spiritual Birth the day they accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Happy Birthday Barry, Jeannie, John and all others who may have a birthday today.

The question is do you have two birthdays? Have you been born again? If you would like to know how go to the home page and click on the 3 Things God Can Not Do, then continue down to the ABC’s of salvation and pray. You have to repent of your sins, believe in your heart and ask Jesus to make your life new. Then please go to the decision card page and let us know of your new birth so we can celebrate with you and pray for you.

John 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Got Problems?

January 13, 2016

No problem is too great to place in God’s hands.

What a true saying on a church sign. God will be with us in any problem great or small.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

2 Birthdays

January 4, 2016

Newborn babies are so precious and everyone celebrates. Then every year on their birthday we send birthday wishes, buy presents, maybe have a birthday party.  That baby has no choice in their birth.
There is a birthday that we do have a choice. It is the second birth. Everyone needs the second birth to go to Heaven. Jesus told Nicodemus, “You must be born again.”

Do you have 2 birthdays? If you do not, go to the home page and follow the instructions starting with the “3 Things God Can Not Do”.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

The Best Gift

December 20, 2015

Many people are hustling to finish shopping for gifts, running at a fast pace to get the right present, get them wrapped and ready to see the happiness on the face of the recipient.

In all the preparation one thing is not even thought about. The most important Person, the Lord Jesus.

Christmas is a wonderful time of year but let us not leave out the reason for the season, Jesus. God gave us the most precious gift. We don’t have to shop for it or pay for it. All we have to do is accept it.

Jesus paid the price. If you have not received God’s Gift do it now. Ask Him to forgive your sins, believe He died for you and rose again, and call upon Him to save you. Your new life can begin today!
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus Birth-Billy Graham

December 15, 2015

“An angel announced His conception and gave Him His name. The heavenly host sang a glorious anthem at His birth. By the extraordinary star, the very heavens indicated His coming.

In Himself He was the most illustrious child ever born-the holy child of Mary, the Devine Son of God.”    Billy Graham

Mathew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Santa

December 12, 2015

What do you do with Santa? You can’t ignore him because he is pictured everywhere. Your children will see and hear about him. Other children will be excited and talk about him.

Do you really want your children to find out you did not tell them the truth?

In our home, having a large family, we did talk about Santa this way.

Santa is pretend. A fairy tale like Cinderella or Snow White. Fun to think about but he is not real.

Our children were allowed to sit on Santa’s lap and have their picture taken but they knew that he was just a man pretending to be Santa.

The gifts they receive come from Daddy and Mommy because God gives blessings of being able to work.

We had fun with our children and played make believe with them about Santa but always told them the real meaning of Christmas.  It is Jesus birthday.

The manger scene was always in a prominent place in our home. (Still is)

We celebrated His birthday with a cake. Also, taught the true joy is in giving not receiving.

Did this hurt our children? No. They really enjoyed Christmas but never had the pain of finding out that Santa is not real and that their parents had not told the truth.

We always told them not to tell their friends because their Mom or Dad must tell them when it is time for them to know.

Have fun with your children this Christmas. Make some memories that are uniquely yours.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Immanuel, Prophecy Fulfilled

December 9, 2015

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Jesus birth was prophesied in the Old Testament many times. Isaiah was one of the major prophets and this verse is one of the better known prophesies.

The book of Isaiah was written 700 years before the birth of Jesus and fulfilled in Bethlehem when Jesus was born to a young virgin named Mary.

The name Immanuel means “God with us” and refers in this prophesy to what people would call Him, not His actual name. Jesus is called many things, Prince of Peace, Wonderful, Lily of the Valley, Savior, King of kings and many more.

As we celebrate His birth this year be thankful we can look back in scripture and know that this prophecy has been fulfilled.

Gifts for Jesus

December 8, 2015

Two SOS Events workers from Alabama are pictured here telling people who came to a Christmas program  at church to check out the 3 Things God Can Not Do. 45 decisions for Jesus was recorded at this event.

Christmas season is a great time to witness for the Lord. Jesus is the reason for the season. What a wonderful gift to bring to Him on His birthday, new Christians who have accepted Him.

The wise men brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh but we can give Him even greater gifts, first ourselves and then to bring others to Him by telling them of God’s great gift to us. Eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Matthew 2:11  And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

A Little Child

December 5, 2015

In the next few weeks there will be Christmas programs in churches and schools (of course to be politically correct in schools they will be called holiday programs).

Songs will be happy and you may even hear a Carol or two. Looking back in memory there was one program that stands out in my mind and I have seen and even directed many of these programs.

This only one that I remember clearly is when my son, who was about 3 years old, recited this little poem:

“I’m not very big or very tall you see, but to the dear Lord Jesus I give all of me.”

From the mouth of a child, that is what our gift to the Lord should be. Our heart, mind and body should be dedicated to Him this Christmas. We scurry around finding the perfect gift for each friend or loved one and many times forget the One whose birthday we are celebrating.

So this season enjoy all festivities but put Jesus first. He desires our worship, love and devotion.

Luke 18:17  Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
