In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. Matthew 26:1-9
Jesus is dead. The tomb is sealed. The disciples are in shock and grief. Is there no hope?
The days between the crucifixion and resurrection must have been really hard for the followers of Jesus. The One they had put their trust in, the One who was going to be King. Confused, sorrowful and disappointed they probably did nothing. Some waited together and others waited alone. People react differently when someone they love dies.
Today there are many people who have the same reaction to Jesus. Some doubt. Some do not believe in Him. Others reject Him. They do not realize what He can do for them.
Today is the day before Resurrection Sunday. Are you like these people or are you excited about tomorrow? The tomb did not stay sealed. The stone rolled away and JESUS arose. Let us celebrate the glorious resurrection not only tomorrow but everyday. JESUS lives…
Mark 16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
John 19:17 & 18 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Matthew 21:12-13
This is a happy hymn that holds so true. Read the words. Life changes when Jesus comes in.
Joy, sins forgiven, hope, light and assurance of Heaven.
What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought Since Jesus came into my heart! I have light in my soul for which long I had sought, Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain:
Since Jesus came into my heart! Since Jesus came into my heart! Floods of joy o’er my soul like the sea billows roll, Since Jesus came into my heart!
I have ceased from my wand’ring and going astray, Since Jesus came into my heart! And my sins which were many are all washed away, Since Jesus came into my heart!
I’m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure, Since Jesus came into my heart! And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure, Since Jesus came into my heart!
There’s a light in the valley of death now for me, Since Jesus came into my heart! And the gates of the City beyond I can see, Since Jesus came into my heart!
I shall go there to dwell in that City I know, Since Jesus came into my heart! And I’m happy, so happy as onward I go, Since Jesus came into my heart!
