September 25, 2014

Thank you, everyone, who prayed for Dorothy to go home to be with the Lord. She entered into His presence, yesterday afternoon. We will miss her sweet quiet spirit at our Senior Servants meetings.
Please continue to keep her family in your prayers, especially, Diana who is on staff of SOS.

2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

If you have a special prayer need call Tom. He is always ready to listen and pray for you. 813-784-8252

Simple Salvation

August 5, 2014

“We should remember that people can go to Heaven without knowing much of the Word of God, but they cannot go to Heaven without knowing Jesus Christ as Savior.”
Lee Roberson
Witnessing to the lost should be simple. Many Christians think that a person must know and understand much of the Bible before they can be saved. That is like putting the cart before the horse.
All a person needs to know to go to Heaven is that they have sinned, Jesus died and paid the price for their sin and they need to ask forgiveness and accept Jesus as their Savior.
SOS Events keeps the Gospel simple so even a young child can understand.
Then after their salvation everyone receives Bible lessons that are age appropriate.
People need The Lord. If you would like to learn how to present the Gospel in a simple way, contact SOS at info@sosevents.org.

Luke 23:43
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

SOS Worker Home With The Lord

July 24, 2014

“I was very much excited to have enlisted a Spanish speaking retired pastor, John Oquendo. He joined me on three different occasions and was very effective at leading others to the Lord. He loved the work and could not wait until I got back from a recent mission trip to Guatemala. However, while I was gone, John had a massive heart attack and went home to be with the Lord. My love and prayers go out to his family. Our friendship here was short lived but I look forward to our reunion in heaven!”
Excerpt from Missionary, Randy Thomas

2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Do You Have 2 Birthdays?

June 1, 2014

In two weeks time our family has seven birthdays. The family celebrates in different ways. There are cards, gifts, special foods, parties and of course a birthday cake.
The children, teens and young adults are excited and looking forward to the future. The older ones look back on life and Thank The Lord that they have reached another year.
Our physical birthday is important to us and we celebrate, but more important is our second birthday. That is the day of our spiritual birth.
It is the day that determines our future in Heaven. The day we knew we were sinners and needed to be saved. The day when we asked Jesus to forgive our sins and become our Savior.
Thankfully, all seven of our family who had birthdays are saved and we will be reunited in Heaven someday.
Do you have 2 birthdays? If you are not sure please email and we will send you a tract explaining how you can be born again. Info@sosevents.org

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Heaven

May 18, 2014

Thinking about Heaven today. Many have gone on before and we miss them, but Jesus did not leave us without hope. He is preparing a beautiful place for us where we can see Him face to face and be united with family, friends and loved ones who are there. May the reality of Heaven bring you comfort.

John 14:2-3
In my Father’s house are many mansions:if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Where Does God Live?

April 2, 2014

“God has two dwellings; one in heaven, and the other in a meek and thankful heart.”
Have you invited Him to live in your heart?
SOS would love to share the ABC’s of salvation with you if you need to know how. Email: info@sosevents.org.

Revelation 3:20
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Spring Ahead, Fall Back

March 10, 2014

Time change. One of the difficult things in life for me is the time change that we, in many states of the USA, go through twice a year.
Spring ahead, fall back is how we remember which way to set our clocks.
Man is always trying to improve what God has done.
God created the times and the seasons and before our lives got so “scheduled”, in simpler times, people got up when it got light and went to bed when it got dark.
If you, like me are finding it difficult to adjust to the new time schedule, let us rejoice that in Heaven there will be no time change. Looking forward to that Day.

Revelation 22:5
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light:and they shall reign for ever and ever.

At Home with The Lord

January 25, 2014

Today we will be attending a funeral of a sweet, elderly, Christian friend. Joanne always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She will be missed by her husband, family and friends.
Yesterday we were asked to pray for a couple in our church whose 13 year old daughter died suddenly. Her parents, family and friends are grieving.
These two Christians are now home with The Lord, but their families need prayer.
We weep over our departed loved ones, but as children of God we are not left without hope.
The ultimate healing is to be in Heaven with our Savior, Jesus.
This is one of my favorite Bible verses:

Psalms 116:15
Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his saints.

Comfort to Those Who Grieve

December 11, 2013

If you have friends who have lost a loved one since last Christmas, make a special effort to call them and comfort them during the holidays. Let them talk about the person they lost if they want too it brings comfort to be able to talk to someone.
Remind them that Jesus is the one who can bring comfort to their heart, but don’t get preachy.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Unexpected blessing

August 14, 2013

Sometimes we get a blessing from unexpected sources. In the waiting room of a doctors office we met a sweet Christian lady who had cancer that is now in remission.
She had a great attitude. This was her statement, “If I go, or if I stay, I am a winner either way.”
2 Corinthians 5:9
Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
