Forgiveness

March 26, 2018

Have you ever done something or said something you are truly sorry for? Maybe you hurt someone you love and need to ask forgiveness, but do not want to open that wound again. The Bible clearly states we need to forgive one another. In fact if a brother (another Christian) has hurt you, you are to go to them and ask their forgiveness. Somehow in our human minds that seems unfair, but think about our relationship to God. We have hurt Him many times, before salvation and especially after we have been saved. Disobedience, apathy and many other things too numerous to mention, and yet He in His love for us has forgiven us for ALL our sins. Let us show our love to Him by forgiving one another.

Mark 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses

Bad News

March 21, 2018

The USA is in trouble within. Far too often there is news about a school being attacked, usually by a student. Children are killed or injured. Police officers are in constant danger, and some are shot doing their duty. Unrest—murders, robbery and every kind of sinful activity is reported everyday. It is discouraging to see the news on TV, social media or radio. When will it all end? The Bible says there is hope for our Nation. Christian it is up to us. We need to put God first, humble ourselves before Him. He will heal our land. If we don’t things will only get worse.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Too Busy?

March 19, 2018

Sometimes Christians are so busy we forget the importance of getting alone with God. We are doing good things, family time, work, maybe teaching Sunday School or even preaching. The easiest time to get away from God is when we are doing God’s work. Even Jesus went away from the crowds to be alone with the Father. We must not neglect our devotion time everyday. It is vital to our walk with God.

Psalms 70:4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.

Mature Christian

March 16, 2018

We have looked at several stages of Christianity in the last few days. The fruit of the Spirit is what a mature Christian should strive for. Are you fully grown as a Christian or are you still a baby or child in your Christian life?

Young Christian (Child)

March 15, 2018

Yesterday we saw what a baby Christian is like. Today let us see what a Christian is like who is saved and has grown a little but has not yet matured. Children can be sweet, obedient, full of questions and like to learn new things. However, they are selfish, willful and sometimes disobedient. Young Christians have some of the same traits. If you are a young Christian, learn how to grow. Develop good habits. Go to a good Bible believing church, study the Bible daily, pray and fellowship with mature Christians. Also, learn to be a witness and tell friends and family about your faith in Jesus. Get rid of old things that would cause you to fall into sin. No matter what your physical age is, your spiritual age is the most important.

Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Newborn Christian

March 14, 2018

Do you know someone who has been saved recently? That new Christian needs to be cared for and nurtured just as we care for a newborn baby. Babies are totally dependent on us to feed, clothe and keep them safe. New Christians depend on us to care for them also. Everything is new to them. They have no knowledge of the scripture. They may have fear of going to a new church or Bible study group. It is our responsibility as a mature Christians to guide and care for them. SOS Events sends each new Christian a Bible Study an prays for them but they need more than that to grow. Please pray with us that each one will have a spiritual caregiver.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

An Event

March 12, 2018

“An event is when you get up in the morning.” A quote from Tom Curtis, cofounder of SOS Events Ministry. Everyday we have opportunity to witness to someone. Maybe in a grocery store, on the phone, in an email or letter. We don’t have to be in an organized event to tell someone about Jesus. At least we can give someone a gospel tract. It is our responsibility as Christians to go and tell. What event is in your life today?

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

No Retirement

March 8, 2018

SOS Events Ministry has many wonderful volunteers who work in the booth at events and we are thankful for everyone. This week we were extremely blessed to have two retired Pastors work in our booth, both for the first time. Jay, 85 years old, talking to two people at the display board and David, in his 70’s, witnessing from the smaller display. Cynthia, mother of 5 and not a senior citizen, is at the table. Jay and David loved working with SOS Events as it gives them opportunity to do what they love best, telling others about Jesus. If you are retired or know someone who is and wants to witness in a non confrontational way for a few hours when needed, SOS Events is the perfect place for you.

Isaiah 43:12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

Rules

March 2, 2018

SOS Events has some simple rules that are to be followed when witnessing at an event. Years of experience, common sense, prayer and God’s Word were important in the planning and setting guidelines for the team members to follow when working at an event. Rules are made for the protection of the workers, the ministry and most importantly the people we are witnessing to. Sometimes there will be someone who think they can bend the rules or just ignore them. This can cause problems. For instance, the Rule: We must get parents permission to talk to children. If we do not follow that rule it can cause a parent (rightfully) to be upset and we loose opportunity to witness to that family. We as Christians have rules or ordinances to follow set up in God’s Word for our protection and fellowship with Him. Rules called ordinances are a good thing for us to follow.

I Peter 2:13 & 14 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Positive or Negative

February 27, 2018

Everyday we can make a choice to be happy, sad, peaceful or angry. Our attitude can make a difference in our lives but it also can have a good or bad influence on others. If we hear from someone and they are sharing good news it makes us happy but if we are around people who are negative it effects our attitude for the day. Let us decide to be a positive influence on people we are in contact with today. We can make their day.

Proverbs 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
