Pray in Secret

May 3, 2014

“The secret of praying is praying in secret. A sinning man will stop praying, and a praying man will stop sinning.”
Leonard Ravenhill

Matthew 6:6
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Forgive Your Enemies

April 26, 2014

“Forgive your enemies, it will mess with their mind.”
This is a quote from a church sign. Catchy but true. The Bible tells us to forgive and also do something good for your enemies.
The best thing we can do is pray for them, the next is to witness to them in a simple non confrontational way.
SOS asks this question, ” Do you know the 3 things God cannot do.”
Simple, thought provoking and an easy way to witness even to your enemies.

Matthew 5:44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

To God Be The Glory

April 25, 2014

To God be the glory, great things He hath done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

Lyrics by Fanny Crosby and tune by William Howard Doane.
It appears to have been written around 1872. Ira Sankey had introduced it in England during Moody’s 1873-1874 evangelistic campaigns. Despite this the song failed to achieve wide usage in the United States and was included in very few hymnals. In 1954 Cliff Barrows, song leader for Billy Graham, was handed a copy with the suggestion that it be added to the song book for the London Crusade. It was so popular that he included it again later that year in the Crusade in Nashville, TN. The audience responded enthusiastically and from that time on used it regularly. With this exposure the song rapidly became familiar to a Christians worldwide and is included in most modern hymnals.
SOS Events is being blessed by God everyday. To Him be the glory.

1 Timothy 1:17
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever.

Forty Days

April 21, 2014

Jesus walked the earth for forty days and was seen by many to prove to them that He was alive and everything that He had told them is true. Then He ascended into Heaven. This is not the end of the story, Jesus is coming again!! It may be today.
Time is short and we must be about the Lord’s business of witnessing and winning souls to Him.

Acts 1:11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Jesus is Dead

April 19, 2014

Jesus is dead. All hope is gone. The disciples, Joseph of Aramethia, the many women who followed Him, prepared to go on with life without Him. The rulers still feared Him and ordered the grave to be guarded.
These people, human like we are, had various emotions the day Jesus died and the 3 days following. Lack of faith, we might think.
What would we have done? Probably the same thing. But wait! Morning is coming!
As we wait for tomorrow, let us meditate on Jesus and the great sacrifice He gave for us, so we can be saved.

Hebrews 2:9
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Seven Sayings of Jesus

April 18, 2014

In the Bible there are seven things Jesus said during the 6 hours He hung on the cross. Because today is called Good Friday, most Christians will reflect on the death of Jesus on the cross.
So much is said in those 7 sayings that volumes of books have not been able to explain all of it.
Forgiveness, Heaven, honor of parents, relationship to God the Father, physical needs, finished work and finally death.
Jesus suffered that death for you and me. Praise The Lord.

Luke 23:34: Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.
Luke 23:43: Verily, I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise.
John 19:26–27: Woman, behold your son. Behold your mother.
Matthew 27:46 & Mark 15:34 My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?
John 19:28: I thirst.
John 19:29-30: It is finished.
Luke 23:46: Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.

Jesus Paid It All

April 16, 2014

“When the Lord Jesus Christ became my surety . . . He went to Calvary’s cross, and all my guilt was charged against Him. He settled for everything, and then He cried, ‘It is finished.’ And on the basis of that finished work, God can freely forgive, and justify completely, every poor sinner who trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ.” ~ Dr. Harry A. Ironside

This quote is from a great preacher who is probably forgotten or never heard of by most young Christians, but he knew how to explain that our sins are completely forgiven by the death of Jesus on the cross. Jesus paid for all our sins on the cross and all we have to do is repent, admit to him that we need forgiveness, believe that He paid for ALL our sins and ask Him to forgive our sins and make our lives new.

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Palm Sunday

April 13, 2014

John 12:12-13
On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna:Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
