Attention Senior Citizens

August 12, 2016

Today a plea goes out to all Christians who are retired or about to be. Do not “retire” from serving God. Most of you who are in good health or even if you have some problems, can be used to bring souls to Jesus.

Get busy, the time is short. Some of the ways God can use you: Hand out tracts when shopping or at a restaurant. Participate at your church in some area of service, the nursery usually needs volunteers. Prayer, even if you can not get out you can pray. The most needed resource for any church or ministry is prayer.

Get involved with a ministry. SOS Events is always looking for volunteers to go to events. 3 or 4 hours a week, a month or even a year would be a great blessing.

Follow the Lord’s leading. SOS Events founders were 62 and 64 when the ministry began 15 years ago and since that time over 50,000 souls have made decisions for Christ. You are not too old so let’s get busy for the Lord.

Psalms 71:18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

Blessings in Tennessee

August 11, 2016

Carolyn Curtis traveled to Tennessee yesterday to train new soul winners, oversee an event and speak to the wonderful people at Bible  Baptist Church in Hendersonville. The Pastor and people were great and welcoming and many came to tell Carolyn they were inspired to win souls, be witnesses for the Lord and will pray for SOS Events.

Tomorrow there is a training Spring Hill, TN and Saturday a “churchyard” event. Please pray that many will come to know Jesus and that Christians will be encouraged to witness for the Lord.

What a privilege and joy to be on the road traveling and Serving Our Savior. God has blessed the ministry and especially given opportunity to Carolyn to be an encouragement to others and expand SOS Events into a new area of Tennessee on Saturday in Spring Hill.

Psalms 24:5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Fishers of Men

August 9, 2016

SOS Events main goal is winning people to the Lord and we always rejoice when souls get saved at events. There is another blessing that causes excitment and joy. When Christians who have never won anyone to the Lord or have not had witnessing as a priority in their lives come to SOS Events to be trained and go to an event, they see how God blesses their effort and people get saved.

There is an old quotation: “Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime.”

That is so true when soul winning. As individuals each team member can witness but when we teach others to be witnesses the training lasts them for a lifetime and more people will have the opportunity to be saved.

Mark 1:17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

Back to School Event

August 8, 2016

Praise the Lord for the 22 people who made decisions for Christ at the Back to School event in Dade City, Florida on Saturday. Families attended this event together.  This event is to benefit children, however, parents are with them and it is a great opportunity for SOS Events to present the gospel to  people of all ages.

(Pictured below are SOS Events team members waiting for people to come to the booth to hear the gospel)

Acts 14:7 And there they preached the gospel.

Congratulations Randy

July 29, 2016

This Sunday, Randy Thomas, our friend and missionary for SOS Events ministry will start another area of ministry as he has accepted the position of Pastor at the Griffin Baptist Church. Randy will continue to win souls with SOS Events especially at the Wednesday Flea Market where this week 9 people came to know the Lord.  He also will work events in the area as well as travel to the Talladega NASCAR Races in October.

Congratulations, Randy, as you now will be even busier working for the Lord. We will be praying for you.

God calls the busiest people to do even more for Him.

2 Thessalonians 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

Wednesday is a Special Day

July 27, 2016

Wednesday is a special day in the home office of SOS Events. The opportunity to win souls at the weekly Plant City Flea Market is always exciting. It is also the day when all the office staff is working. All of the office personnel are part time workers so their hours vary, but on Wednesdays everyone is busy in the office.

Diana, who is the Office Manager/Secretary is overseeing and making sure everyone has their tasks understood and preformed properly. Beka, Hailey and Juliana, our 3 recent high school graduates are doing their work diligently. Beka is Diana’s assistant and has worked in the office all her high school years, her main duties are to do whatever Diana or Carolyn needs to be done. Hailey does most of the filing, keeping the tracts and supplies in order. Juliana records the decisions and updates any records needed on the computer.

After the Flea Market, Alice arrives with the news of the salvations for the day. Then she works on correspondence, schedules events and makes necessary phone calls. Carolyn now has her own office so is not in the main building on Wednesdays but will go in and greet everyone before she goes to carry on the work of the ministry.

David, SOS maintenance man also works on Wednesdays when he is in Florida. He spends his summers up North and will return soon.

Everyday is an opportunity to further the Gospel of Jesus, but for the home office of SOS Events,  Wednesday is a special day when we all work together.

1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

Christian Living

When we take the name CHRISTIANS, we also take on the responsibility of living as CHRISTIANS, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

New Calling

July 13, 2016

Last night I accepted the call to be the senior pastor at Griffin Baptist Church, Lakeland. I’m currently in transition saying good-bye to Parkview after nearly 10 years (Which is not easy). Yet I am looking forward to exciting days ahead — God truly is amazing!  Randy Thomas

Randy and Romona also do many events for SOS Events ministry. He is a great soul winner and God will bless him in his new church. He will continue to work with SOS Events along with his new responsibilities.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Fanny Crosby-No Excuses

July 12, 2016

Fanny Crosby was blind from a small baby but never allowed her blindness to stop her from Serving Her Savior. She wrote the words to hundreds of hymns under her own name as well as pen names.

She was a teacher, author, wife and Godly, Christian. What a testimony to what one person can do who trusts fully in the Lord and allows the Holy Spirit to work through her.

Sometimes we have excuses why we cannot serve God. Illness, lack of money, job, family and many others. In the Bible a man used the excuse of having to bury his father. (Matthew 8:21) “What is your excuse? Decide to be effective for the Lord no matter what and get busy for Him.

John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
