Ronal Reagan Quote on Christmas

December 19, 2014

“Christmas can be celebrated in the schoolroom with pine trees, tinsel and reindeers, but there can be no mention of the man whose birthday is being celebrated. One wonders how a teacher would answer if a student would ask why it was called Christmas.”
Ronald Reagan
Most children in the USA will be having “holiday” parties in school today, as the school will close for Christmas break. What a tragedy that we have come so far in our country that the true meaning of Christmas cannot be taught or mentioned in our public schools.
Our country was founded on Christian principles. Freedom OF religion not freedom FROM religion.
Our greeting should be Merry Christmas, not Happy Holidays. Let us continue to keep Christ in Christmas.

Luke 1:14
And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

The Reason for the Season

December 15, 2014

IMG_2030.JPG
Many people are hustling to finish shopping for gifts, running at a fast pace to get the right present, get them wrapped and ready to see the happiness on the face of the recipient.
In all the preparation one thing is not even thought about. The most important Person, the Lord Jesus.
Christmas is a wonderful time of year but let us not leave out the reason for the season, Jesus. God gave us the most precious gift. We don’t have to shop for it or pay for it. All we have to do is accept it.
Jesus paid the price. If you have not received God’s Gift do it now. Ask Him to forgive your sins, believe He died for you and rose again, and call upon Him to save you. Your new life can begin today!

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Joseph, Husband of Mary

December 11, 2014

Joseph was a good man. Engaged to Mary and most likely looking forward to taking her for his wife, when an angle came to him and told him to not fear to take Mary as his wife as the Child she was carrying was conceived by the Holy Ghost.
He was a brave and righteous man to believe God and take on that great responsibility. He was an obedient person, Joseph took care of Mary and Jesus and we know from scripture that he was still living when JESUS went to the temple at twelve years old.
That is the last mention Joseph in the Bible and he must have died before Jesus started His public ministry.

Matthew 1:24-25
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son:and he called his name Jesus.

Children’s Hymn

September 29, 2014

Jesus Loves Me, This I Know
Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak but He is strong.

CHORUS: Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells so.

This morning I awoke thinking of my young grandchildren and praying for them. Most of them do not live near me but I can have an influence on their lives by praying each day for them.
My grandmother prayed for me, sang to me and was a great influence on my life. Many years after her death I was saved and this song “Jesus Loves Me” was one of the hymns that would run through my mind even before I found a church to attend because she sang it to me as a small child.
I am thankful for the great hymns of the faith, even as a great grandmother, it lifts my spirit to hear them.

If you have a need for one of your family call Tom and he will pray with you.

At Calvary

August 3, 2014

Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary.
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty at Calvary.
By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,
Till my guilty soul imploring turned to Calvary.
Now I’ve given to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing of Calvary!
Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span at Calvary!

“At Calvary” is the testimony of its author William Newell. He was a rebellious teenager and his father was desperate. His father wrote to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago begging the president of the college to allow William to attend.
On one condition, that William meet with the president daily. With much prayer by both the father and president, William’s life turned around and he later became a pastor, evangelist and popular conference speaker. Never forgetting his wonderful transformation he wrote this beautiful hymn.

Luke 23:33
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him….

Matthew

July 21, 2014

Levi, who became Matthew, was a customs official in Capernaum who taxed imports and exports based on his own judgment. The Jews hated him because he worked for Rome and betrayed his countrymen.
But when Matthew the dishonest tax collector heard two words from Jesus, “Follow me,” he left everything and obeyed.

Matthew 9:9
And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom:and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

Thomas, the Doubting Disciple

July 20, 2014

Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, had the nick name doubting Thomas, but was he more of a skeptic than a doubter? Thomas did not ask for a special revelation from Jesus. He simply asked for the same proof the other disciples had. Thomas was the kind of man who wanted to know for himself. He was his own man. He would not let others do his thinking for him.

How did Jesus respond to Thomas? He made a special resurrection appearance for him. Jesus understood Thomas’s desire to know for himself. Jesus came to Thomas on his level. He didn’t rebuke him. He didn’t humiliate him. He could see that deep down in Thomas’s heart, that Thomas really wanted to know God.

John 20:27-29
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side:and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Philip, Disciple of Jesus

July 19, 2014

The interesting thing about Philip, one of the Twelve, is that he was personally reached by Jesus himself. While Philip brought Nathanael to Jesus, and Andrew brought Peter to Jesus, no one brought Philip to Jesus. Instead, Jesus came right to him. Normally God reaches people through people, but this was an exception to the rule.

We don’t know a lot about Philip. All the vignettes of Philip appear in the Gospel of John. But from that Gospel, we discover that he was a completely different kind of person than Peter, Andrew, James, or John. He is often paired with Nathanael, whom he brought to Jesus.

It also would appear from John’s account of the Feeding of the Five Thousand that Philip may have been in charge of the supplies and food, the road manager of sorts. He was the kind of guy who was practical.

And according to church history, Philip laid his life down for Christ, being stoned to death after reaching many with the gospel.

“The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, ‘Follow Me’ ” (John 1:43).
