JESUS in the News

April 3, 2015

JESUS is in the news and featured on TV this week. There are several movies, documentaries and discussions about Him. He becomes the popular subject for debate this time of year, especially by newscasters who most do not really know who He is.

It is sad that only 2 times a year, Easter and Christmas that people talk about Jesus. Even CHRISTIANS are guilty. We should be talking and witnessing about Jesus everyday of the year. Without Him there would be no hope of Heaven, no forgiveness of sin and no real joy in our lives.

Christian, let us put JESUS the main subject of discussion 365 days a year. He will give us the power to witness of His great love, death, burial and resurrection.

Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

What You Need to Know to Get to Heaven

March 7, 2015

“We should remember that people can go to Heaven without knowing much of the Word of God, but they cannot go to Heaven without knowing Jesus Christ as Savior.”
Lee Roberson
SOS Events ministry uses few verses to led a person to JESUS Christ and those people walk away from the SOS booth SAVED. Only 6 verses in the Bible can change a person’s life for all eternity.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

This is the Day

February 22, 2015

1. This is the day, this is the day
that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made;
we will rejoice, we will rejoice
and be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made.

2. This is the day, this is the day
when he rose again, when he rose again;
we will rejoice, we will rejoice
and be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day when he rose again;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day when he rose again.

3. This is the day, this is the day
when the Spirit came, when the Spirit came;
we will rejoice, we will rejoice
and be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day when the Spirit came;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day when the Spirit came.

When researching hymns it is amazing how many different stanzas that there are. “This is the Day” is one of those hymns. These verses are especially meaningful as they honor the JESUS resurrection as well as the Holy Spirit even though He is nor mentioned by name. Sometime we are familiar with only one verse of a song and do not even realize there are more that are just as uplifting.

Psalms 118:24
This is the day which the Lord hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.

This is a photo of the SOS Events booth at Big Top Flea Market. There are empty chairs in this photo. Today they need to be filled with people who need the Lord. Pray with us that many will come to Jesus today and tomorrow at this weekly event.

Luke 14:23
And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Invitation

January 29, 2015

God sends you an invitation to a stress free life. Everyone except the very young has stress in their life, today. Health, finances, family, job and a variety of other problems can wreck havoc in our lives today.
Need help? JESUS said:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28

SAD

January 7, 2015

Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD is the medical term for lack of natural sunlight. In the Northern hemisphere we are now in the winter season, the time of year that SAD becomes a problem.
Most parts of the world have three low-sunlight seasons. Some people have proved more susceptible to Seasonal Affective Disorder. Those with higher risk factors include women, those who live farthest from the equator (Eskimos, for example) and those whose family histories include members who have suffered from seasonal affective issues. This causes physical,
mental disorders and depression, and should be taken seriously. It could reach feelings of isolation, coupled with severe hopelessness and, perhaps, suicidal thoughts. Doctors suggest artificial light, extra vitamin D and even medication for depression.
SAD is a good acronym for this disorder. There is additional “treatment” that should help in any situation. The Christian already has the answer and the unbeliever needs to know. Jesus said that He is the light of the world. If you are a Christian then look to Him for spiritual light. If you do not know Him as your Savior, ask Him to come into your heart and life today. He will help you get through times of sadness.

John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world:he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Good News

January 4, 2015

The first new day of the first new week of the new year starts today. Some people are looking forward to a new workweek, others are dreading the prospect of going back to work or school tomorrow. A few may feel hopeless but there is good news. If you are a Christian there are many promises in God’s Word the Bible.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
If you are not a Christian there are promises in God’s Word for you also.
John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
To receive Him, (JESUS), ask Him to forgive your sins, believe He died on the cross, was buried, and rose again after the third day, and that He did, so you could be saved. Then call on Him in prayer.

Gift to Jesus

December 27, 2014

Did you remember to give JESUS the gift He wanted for Christmas? Many years ago, a little boy only two or three years old was in a Christmas program at a small church.
I have never forgotten the words this small child spoke on that day.
“I’m not very big
Nor very tall you see
but to the dear Lord Jesus
I give all of me.”
That small child is now a man an has given his life to the Lord working with children and influencing multitudes of lives to give their all to Jesus also.
Have you given all of you to Jesus?

Mark 10:21
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest:go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

No Room?

December 24, 2014

Joseph must have been frantically looking for a place to stay for the night. Mary was probably already in labor. She was young, it was her first child and she was going through the same pain in childbirth that every mother has when giving birth.
Bethlehem was full of travelers. It was a small village with a very limited number of inns. Maybe only one, and the was no room. The innkeeper took pity on Joseph and Mary and allowed them room in his stable.
Most people look at the innkeeper as unfeeling but if you think about it he really did an act of kindness, plus scripture was being fulfilled.
If the innkeeper had known who was to be born in his stable, maybe he would have given up his own room for JESUS.
JESUS wants the best from us. Our gift to Him this Christmas should be giving Him every room in our heart.

Luke 2:7
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Journey to Bethlehem

December 23, 2014

IMG_2041-0.JPG
The journey to Bethlehem took Mary and Joseph about 4 days. It was not an easy journey for a woman about to give birth. Tradition says she rode on a donkey but that is not in the Bible account. She may have had to walk that distance.
Today take a few minutes from your busy Christmas preparation and think about the obedience of Joseph and Mary. They were willing to sacrifice time, ridicule, and hardship to bring JESUS into the world.
Two humans that made a difference to everyone from that time for all eternity.

Luke 2:4
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
