Special Blessing

August 30, 2014

Stone! Piles of stone that needed to be spread out in front of the property. We tried to hire someone to come and spread it but no one was willing to work.
Tom has not been feeling well so he could not do it, so everyday for over a week I would go out and do my best but could only move about six buckets a day. We are in our 70’s and things are not as easy as they once were.
I was getting a little discouraged when one evening the phone rang.
One of my grandsons, Justin, said, “Grandma, The Lord put you on my heart, is there anything I can do for you.”
Once again, God showed me of His loving care for His children. Justin has 4 children and a full time job,so we rarely see him because he is a busy man.
Yesterday, he and his wife came over and he worked on that stone. Before noon everything was in place.
We are so thankful, first to The Holy Spirit for prompting Justin to call and then for the obedience and work of this grandson. We are blessed.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

JOY

August 27, 2014

“If you have no joy, there’s a leak in your Christianity somewhere.”
~ Billy Sunday
Happiness is something everyone searches for, but it depends on the things that happen to us in life, our circumstances. Some people never attain happiness.
Joy is different. No matter what our circumstances we can have joy. Joy is from the heart. It is our attitude toward our circumstances. The only way to have true joy is to have Jesus as our Savior.
We can also practice the advice in this little saying:
J put Jesus first
O others second
Y yourself last
Have a joyful day!!!

1 John 1:4
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Day of Worship

August 24, 2014

Some people are unable to go to church and worship on the Lord’s Day.
Care givers, police, firefighters, hospital workers, illness are some that may not be able to assemble as the Bible directs.
A word of encouragement to you if you are one of those people. God loves you and true worship comes from the heart.
If you are able to go to church be thankful and remember those who are not able to go. Maybe a note or a phone call would brighten their day.
Pray for those you can think of that may not be in the congregation.
If you need prayer Tom or one of the staff at SOS wants to pray with you.
Call 813-784-8242.

John 4:23
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Prayer Line

August 18, 2014

Phone ringing in the night is a frightening sound to me as usually it means bad news and something has happened to someone in our family.
Tom woke me out of a sound sleep yesterday, “Your phone is ringing,” he said. I went to get the phone, thinking the worst, but it was his phone ringing.
He answered and it was a lady needing prayer. 4:30 am is an odd time to call a prayer line but this woman, from across the country, really needed someone to listen, hear her prayer request and pray with her.
We are thankful for the opportunity to be used of The Lord to pray for people in need.
The prayer line is open. If you call and Tom does not answer immediately, he will get back to you as soon as possible. Leave your name, phone number and a short request. Call Tom 813-784-8242.

Acts 6:4
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Faith

August 17, 2014

“I prayed for Faith, and thought that some day Faith would come down and strike me like lightning. But Faith did not seem to come. One day I read in the tenth chapter of Romans, ‘Now Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God’. I had closed my Bible, and prayed for Faith. I now opened my Bible, and began to study, and Faith has been growing ever since. ”
D. L. Moody

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Fear of Storm

August 15, 2014

Baby, our little chihuahua, is terrified of thunder. Last night there was a thunder storm that was extremely loud. Baby sleeps in a crate by our bed and usually loves her bed and has no problem sleeping. But when the thunder got loud she started to whimper in fear. Finally, I got up and put her in our bed. Immediately, she curled up and was sound asleep, knowing she was protected by her master.
We have a Protecter, The Lord Jesus, who is waiting to calm our fears in the storms of our life. When fear overtakes us we can trust Him to bring us through the storm in peace and safety.

Hebrews 13:6

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Leonard Ravenhill on Prayer

August 14, 2014

“Prayer is the most unexplored area of the Christian life. A man who is intimate with God will never be intimidated by men.”
Leonard Ravenhill

Tom Curtis, founder of SOS Events, is a man who prays. He would like to pray for you. tom@sosevents.org is his email address if you have a prayer request.

James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Transformation

August 13, 2014

Adrian Rogers Quote: “The same Jesus Who turned water into wine can transform your home, your life, your family, and your future. He is still in the miracle-working business, and His business is the business of transformation.”
Do you want someone to pray with you about a need in your life? Call Tom at 812-784-8242.

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world:but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Your Labour

August 6, 2014

Do you feel at times that the work you do is unappreciated and unrewarded? Women may feel the stress of husband, children, home and job is overwhelming. Men go to work everyday maybe to a job they don’t even like and never get a thank you for providing for family. Pastors, missionaries may feel they are getting nowhere in their work for The Lord.
Remember, everything we do can and should bring glory to God. The verse chosen for today is to encourage you to keep on. Your labour is not in vain.

Pray Daily

July 28, 2014

Pray daily. Prayer is simply talking to God. You don’t have to use big fancy words. There are no right and wrong words. Just be yourself. Give thanks to the Lord daily for your salvation. Pray for others in need. Pray for direction. Pray for the Lord to fill you daily with His Holy Spirit. There is no limit to prayer. You can pray with your eyes closed or open, while sitting or standing, kneeling or lying on your bed, anywhere, anytime. So begin to make prayer a part of your daily routine.

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks:for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
