RV problems

August 11, 2011

This week Tom and Carolyn Curtis were getting ready to go to a church, about 200 miles away, to participate in a soul winning event. Their motor home, a 1997 class A was running just fine when Tom tested it last week. When he tried to start it to get ready to go, you guessed it. Totally dead.

Called an RV mechanic, who came out in the pouring rain but he could not do the repairs until it gets towed to the shop sometime next week. It is the fuel pump. The whole gas tank has to be removed to replace the pump.

As traveling sometimes only means a one or two night stay, SOS could use a smaller RV. If you know of anyone who has a class B or C they would like to donate to the ministry it would be greatly appreciated and used for the glory of God.

There is a local event this weekend also that several of our trained people will work. Pray for Saturday August 13 that many souls will be saved.

Girl and Mother saved at Flea Market

Girl and Mother saved at Flea Market

The staff at SOS continually looks for sales, bargains and inexpensive ways to cut cost of the ministry. Tom and Carolyn decided to go to a Flea Market to see if they could find something needed for the ministry.

While looking at the many booths a girl and her Mother were also looking.

The girl was smoking a cigarette. Tom (led by the Holy Spirit) said to her, “You know you really shouldn’t be smoking? That’s really bad for your health.”

Her Mother said, “That’s what I have been telling her.”

The girl immediately dropped the cigarette and said, “I need to quit and I have been trying.”

“Do you know there is someone who can help you with that?” Tom responded.

“Tell me who.”

Tom proceeded to tell both Janet and her Mother about Jesus. Both of those women bowed their head and trusted Christ.

About 6 months later SOS received a wonderful letter from Janet stating that they were doing the Bible studies in the Bible, she had quit smoking, and both were now active in a local church.

SOS presentation of the Gospel with the “3 Things God Can Not Do” is a great way to evangelize, however, sometimes only by the Holy Spirit, God leads in a different way. This was one of the times God filled Tom’s mouth with the right words to say.

Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Do you know? SOS means serving our savior.

Senior Servants today at SOS

July 8, 2011

Today, Thursday, July, 7th was truly a day to Praise the Lord. SOS has a group of ladies that come and help with various things that need to be done for the ministry once a month.
The ladies that came today helped stuff envelopes for our newsletter that is mailed to almost 2500 people. It is time consuming and rather boring if done by only one or two. But there is an old saying, “Many hands make light work.” and that was certainly true today. By lunchtime we still had about 800 to do and every lady said she would stay until the job was done.
Our work was finished but more important than that the sweet Christian spirit, fellowship and prayer once a month is profitable and encouraging. Please pray for our Senior Servants. They all have needs and God can supply.
If you do not receive our newsletter please call the office at (813) 494-7512 or email info@sosevents.org.

Happenings the last 3 months

Results of Events for SOS
Egg Hunts 41 souls were saved at 2 Egg Hunts at Easter time in Plant City.
Yard Sales 12 people made decisions at a yard sale where a church invited the community to come and set up tables with things to sell. It brought many people that did not attend church to participate, what a great opportunity to reach the area for Christ.
Car Shows Some teens worked at the Strawberry Festival. These teenagers got excited about winning souls to the Lord and decided, with the permission of the Pastor and youth director, to participate in the annual car show at their church with an SOS booth. Under the supervision of one of our staff members these teens set up the booth and worked in it. Three adults were saved. Two men and one woman, all over 65 years old. The teens were thrilled that God used them and some have also helped in other events. Another large car show was held and several of SOS staff members worked. There were 16 decisions at this “Churchyard Event”.
Public Park One of the larger churches in Brandon, FL had a Neighborhood Spring Fling at a public park. Free food, games, prizes were given and there were 42 decisions at that event. Also, Christians are excited and SOS is blessed to have at least 10 new workers and 1 trainer as a result.
Block Party Seven souls saved at a church that had a Block Party Event. At the last minute Bo, one of our faithful workers, found out that no one was available to work at this event and even with pain from a back problem decided to go. God blessed with 7 souls.

Letter telling of salvations at a Public Park Event

June 9, 2011

A letter sent to a partnering church from SOS Administrative Assistant, Diana:
Hello Pastor and Debbie,

I sent the list of decisions earlier today, but wanted to share some blessings from the Saturday event with you.

Among the few I had the privilege to lead to the Lord, two of them were youngsters I know at church. I taught Ryan when he was in my four year old Bible Fellowship class (now 7 yrs. old). His parent’s stood there and witnessed his salvation experience. They have been praying for his heart to be tender for this very reason. Nicole accepted the Lord as well. Her parents were faithful teachers on my team during the 9:30 Bible Fellowship hour 2-3 yrs. What a blessing that I would be the one to lead them to the saving knowledge of Christ.

Also a family (mother and three children age 4, 9 and 13) all accepted the Lord as Savior. The 9 yr. old son stopped to ask for some water. The mother and 4 yr. old daughter were coming up right behind him. We pointed to where the water was but asked if we could first show them The Three Things God Cannot Do. The son and daughter said yes, the mother said she would go get the water and bring it back. By time the mother returned we had time to share and pray with the two children. So naturally, we asked the mother if she would like to see The Three Things God Cannot Do, she said yes, answered that she was not 100% sure and accepted Christ as Savior also. Shortly afterwards, she brings her 13 year old son to us to listen. He then accepts the Lord as well. They were looking for water to quench their thirst and received living water that gives them eternal life. It is awesome to see how the Holy Spirit works through events, people and willing hearts.

Thank you again.

Serving Our Savior,

Diana Guiliano

SOS Moving Forward

May 19, 2011

The Staff in Florida has been extremely busy this spring season.
Easter started it off with several Egg Hunts at different churches in the area. Over 200 souls were saved at these various events.
Tom and Carolyn have been traveling around Florida promoting the ministry and training Christians to take part in their local churches to see souls saved.
“Churchyard Events” is a successful way to not only see souls saved but have these new Christians become a part in the local assembly.
In the the months of April and May at least 1 or 2 events have taken place each week. The average decisions at these events have been 15 decisions. Most of these are salvations but a few have been assurance or other commitments. We have had reports of some baptisms following the salvations at some of the churches.
Praise the Lord for every soul saved, every Christian that becomes a soul winner and every church that receives the blessing of new people in their congregation. You can participate with SOS by prayer, participation in an event or by giving to the ministry.

I Can Talk to God

August 6, 2010

At a fair in Ohio staff from SOS and some volunteers from a local church was working in the booth. Many people walk by and are curious about what is behind the doors on the display. There is always a sign that says See 3 things God Can Not Do.

One man a grandfather kept walking past the sign and finally came over to the staff worker and asked to see what was behind the doors.

He was shown the doors. 1. God Can Not Lie 2. God Can Not Change
3. God Can Not Let Anyone Into Heaven Unless He is Born Again.

“I’m Catholic”, the man said.

“Are you 50, 75 or 100% sure you would go to Heaven if you died today? The worker asked.

“No, I do not know I am going to Heaven”.

The staff member took Ray to the soul winners table where Ray accepted the Lord then he asked, “Could you get me a Bible? I go to mass every Sunday and after that service I go to a Bible preaching church because I found out there that I can talk to God without going through a priest”.

A few minutes later Ray’s wife walked past the tent and the exact same thing happened. She also was asked the questions, went back to a soul winner and accepted Christ as her Savior.

What a blessing to have a place to witness where people from all faiths have an opportunity to hear that God loves them and they can know Jesus personally. Like Ray said, “I can talk to God.”

Deuteronomy 5:24 And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.
