Need Prayer?
August 5, 2014Peter
July 16, 2014Do you ever think about the people in the Bible? They were human just as we are. They had the same problems, feelings, faith, doubts that we have. For the next few days we will look more closely at a few of these people.
Without question, the Apostle Peter was the disciple most of us can identify with. A fisherman, ordinary person, one minute he was walking on water by faith, and the next he was sinking in doubts. Impulsive and emotional, Peter is best known for denying Jesus when the pressure was on. Even so, as a disciple he was dearly loved by Christ, holding a special place among the twelve.
Peter, often a spokesman for the twelve, stands out in the Gospels. Whenever the men are listed, Peter’s name is first. He, James, and John formed the inner circle of Jesus’ closest companions. These three alone were given the unique privilege of experiencing the transfiguration, along with a few other extraordinary revelations of Jesus.
After the resurrection of Christ, Peter became a bold evangelist and missionary, and one of the greatest leaders of the early church. Passionate until the end, historians record that when Peter was sentenced to death by crucifixion, he requested that his head be turned toward the ground because he did not feel worthy to die in the same manner as his Savior.
Matthew 4:18-19
And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea:for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Honor Our Savior, Our Country and Veterans
May 25, 2014Our Savior, Jesus, Our Country, and Our Servicemen and Women deserve our honor, respect and thanks for our freedom. When you see the flag, or hear the National anthem, STOP. Salute and be thankful. If you know a veteran give them a call or say a prayer for them today. Memorial Day weekend was declared not so we can have a picnic, go to the beach or welcome in summer, but to honor those fallen patriots who gave their lives for our country. The USA has many problems but we are still free thanks to our brave fighting military. We as nation must turn back to God to keep our freedom as the Bible tells us.
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Malachi
April 27, 2014Carolyn and I do not get much free time as SOS Events grows, we get busier and to find a few hours to go somewhere for relaxation is very hard to do. But finally we did have a few hours to get away and decided to go over to Busch Gardens for lunch. (We were given a yearly pass as a gift)
We decided to ride the train around the park as it is a great way to view all the animals in natural habitat.
The line was long and it was about a 15 minute wait, when a boy came up to me asked me if I’d like to sit down. I gave him a Bible track and found out that he was a born-again Christian whose name is Malachi 11 years old very nice young man. He and his family were visiting from Michigan.
It is so refreshing to find polite, courteous children in this day and age.
We also met his Mom, dad, brother and sister. A good testimony of a Christian family.
Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go:
and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Luke 10:7
the labourer is worthy of his hire.
2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity:for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Eggs, Bunnies and Baskets
April 11, 2014If you go into almost any store, grocery, clothing, or drugstore this time of year what you see first is colored plastic eggs, plush bunnies, colorful baskets and spring flowers. Signs may say Happy Easter but nowhere ( except a Christian Bookstore) do you find anything about Jesus and His death, burial and resurrection.
The very reason we have to celebrate Easter is forgotten and it has become a day to be with family, friends with all kinds of activity that has nothing to do with the worship of God.
Have we as Christians become like the retail stores and forgotten the true meaning of Easter?
This coming week let us focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The Lord’s Work
March 3, 2014“Trust God as if it all depends on Him, and work as if it all depends on you.”
Bob Jones, Sr.
When working in a booth at an event, SOS workers know it is God who brings the unsaved in, and it is Him who saves them. However, we must work diligently to bring it about.
Several things must be done by SOS before the event can take place. The booth must be set up, kept clean, look attractive.
The workers must be trained, be faithful, get to the event early and most important have a heart for the lost and pray for The Lord’s blessing.
Whatever work we do for The Lord, Bob Jones, Sr. gave us good advice.
1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Good Example
March 2, 2014Tom Curtis, founder of SOS Events has a heart for the lost. He always uses every situation to hand out a Bible tract or be a witness for The Lord.
Yesterday, we stopped for breakfast at a very crowded restaurant. There was at least a 20 minute wait to get a table.
Tom was coming out of the restroom when he stumbled and almost fell. His color was terrible and one look at him and even the people around could tell something was wrong.
A man came up behind him and would not leave his side until the manager brought a chair for Tom to sit it.
Another employee brought a glass of orange juice when I explained he must be having a low sugar attack.
Feeling really shaky and sick Tom still in the midst of it all, got tracts out of his pocket and made sure the ones that helped got a tract.
The manager of that Cracker Barrel then got us a table immediately so Tom could eat and after he got some food he felt much better.
What an example of a man that loves The Lord so much and has a burden for the lost.
John 13:15
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Testimony of A 14 Year Old Who Was Saved
March 1, 2014Praise The Lord for the 25 plus souls that have come to salvation at the Strawberry Festival in the last 2 days.
One of the girls who came into the booth with her sister to be saved, wrote on the back of the decision card; “When I prayed to Jesus I felt like there was a weight lifted off my shoulders and that He was actually in my heart.”
Alyson 14 years old
Luke 15:10
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
God Can Not Lie
February 17, 2014Tom Curtis quote, “God cannot lie, so He could never run for president.”
Titus 1:2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
