Faith

Sometimes our faith fails. Maybe through a trial in our lives, or we think God does not hear our prayers. Jesus told His disciples several times, “O ye of little faith”.
The wonderful thing that He also said in the verse above is that all we need is faith as small as a mustard seed.
How can we increase our faith? “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
On SOS home page is a great Bible Study on Faith. It is lesson 10. That is a good lesson to help increase our faith.

Meditate

Webster’s dictionary definition of Meditate:
To focus one’s thoughts on : reflect on or ponder over.
When we read the Bible, do we just read it or meditate on it?
It is important to not only read God’s Word everyday but meditate on it.

1 Timothy 4:15
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Sowing Seeds

Many of the verses in the Bible can be applied to our lives in different ways. The Holy Spirit uses God’s Word to bring us to the place that He wants us to be.
In context the following verse is talking about our giving of money, however, it can also be used in many areas of our lives.
In a parable, Jesus spoke of seed and the sower as a witness, and I like to think that this verse can be applied to witnessing also.
We will never see God work in our lives to win souls if we never witness to anyone.

2 Corinthians 9:6
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

Jesus Instructions for Witnessing

Jesus taught and trained His disciples for 3 years the art of soul winning.
After Jesus was resurrected He instructed His disciples to stay in Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Father.

Acts 1:6-8
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And he said unto them, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Want Wisdom?

Proverbs is the book of wisdom in the Bible. A good thing to do is read a chapter from Proverbs everyday. Today is the third day of the month so here are the first 2 verses from the chapter for today. (It applies to women also.)

Proverbs 3:1-2
My son, forget not my law;
but let thine heart keep my commandments:
For length of days, and long life,
and peace, shall they add to thee.

The Lord Laughs

Today the whole USA is experiencing extremely cold weather. In many of the northern states it is dangerous to even go outside with the temperature way below freezing, not to mention the snow and ice, which makes driving hazardous.
The “experts” tell us we have global warming, and we are in great danger from heat.
I can imagine God looking down on us and laughing at our foolishness.
If you are someone who is at home today, not able to go out because of the weather, take this unexpected opportunity to worship God with added Bible study and prayer.
Our prayer for you is that you stay warm and safe.
Psalms 37:13
The Lord shall laugh at him:
for he seeth that his day is coming.

Delight thyself also in the Lord;

A great promise in God’s Word.
Look up the word delight in the dictionary. One of the definitions is, joy.

Do You Study God’s Word

“When you fail to study God’s Word, you stop growing. When you cease to grow spiritually, you start deteriorating immediately. When you stop climbing, you start slipping. You can never arrive spiritually in this life; there is always a higher plateau to be reached. One of those plateaus is personal evangelism. Jesus said, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Soul winners are made, not born.”

How to have a blessed day.

Proverbs 8:17
I love them that love me;
and those that seek me early shall find me.
God loves fellowship with His children. Take time every morning to have a time of Bible reading and prayer first thing. Sometimes it may only be 1 or 2 verses because of time. On those days we have scripture cards that give us the verse on which to meditate. Your day will go much better, and you will blessed.

The Holy Spirit

“The Holy Spirit is God, and is equal to the Father and the Son. He is God the Holy Spirit, and is distinct from the Father and the Son. In the Genesis account of creation, He is seen actively engaged in the work of creation, along with the Father and the Son. In the Old Testament, He empowered men for service; but, when they were disobedient, He departed from them.”
