Rejoice in The Lord

January 13, 2014

Do you wake up with a song in your heart? Today my song was “This is the Day That The Lord has Made, I Will Rejoice and Be Glad in It.”!
That made me think that rejoicing is a choice. We choose to be joyful or we can choose to be miserable.
Today let us make the choice to be glad in The Lord.
Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord alway:and again I say, Rejoice.

The Lord Laughs

January 7, 2014

Today the whole USA is experiencing extremely cold weather. In many of the northern states it is dangerous to even go outside with the temperature way below freezing, not to mention the snow and ice, which makes driving hazardous.
The “experts” tell us we have global warming, and we are in great danger from heat.
I can imagine God looking down on us and laughing at our foolishness.
If you are someone who is at home today, not able to go out because of the weather, take this unexpected opportunity to worship God with added Bible study and prayer.
Our prayer for you is that you stay warm and safe.
Psalms 37:13
The Lord shall laugh at him:
for he seeth that his day is coming.

All Things Become New

December 31, 2013

Today is New Years Eve. A lot of people will be out celebrating and partying, not thinking or caring about The Lord. Many make resolutions that will be broken in a week or two, but true followers of Christ look forward to serving Him and being obedient in the coming year.
Let us use this time to recommit our time and talent to Serving Our Savior.
God gave us a new beginning when He sent His Son, Jesus to die on the cross. When we accepted Him old things passed away and all things became new in our lives.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

A New Year Coming

December 29, 2013

2013 is almost over. Just a few more days to reflect on this past year. Every year has both joy and sorrow. Maybe this year there was a new birth in your family, or you had a promotion on your job or moved into a new house. Think of the joy that you had this past year.
Then there may have been sorrow, a death in the family that has left a huge hole in your heart, or maybe you lost your job or your house is foreclosed.
Contrasts in life is a normal thing for man. The good news is that there is a new year coming that is like a blank canvas. God will bring some blessings and He may allow some sorrow, but it is always exciting to look forward to the new year and know that God will direct our path if we trust Him.
Proverbs 3:6
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.

The Best Gift

December 27, 2013

Did you receive a gift for Christmas that you really liked?
Do you remember a gift you got last year? Most of us do not remember past gifts unless it was something really special that has sentimental meaning.
There is one gift, that if you have received it, you will not forget and it is something that will last for eternity.
The Lord Jesus. Today reflect on the verse, John 1:12.

John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Encouragement from Simeon

December 26, 2013

For most of us Christmas is over, the presents have been unwrapped, the family has departed, the feasting is done. It may be a time when a feeling of disappointment or sadness has replaced the expectation that you felt just yesterday.
Now is the time to remember that the blessings of Christmas did not end with the birth of Jesus. That was just the beginning.
Mary and Joseph took Him to the temple, when He was 8 days old. They met a old man named Simeon who would not see death until he saw the Messiah. When he held baby Jesus he knew that
Jesus was One who the Holy Spirit had promised. Simeon said in Luke 2:30 “For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.”
Today be encouraged, Jesus came to bring us salvation and give us joy and peace in our hearts.

Comfort to Those Who Grieve

December 11, 2013

If you have friends who have lost a loved one since last Christmas, make a special effort to call them and comfort them during the holidays. Let them talk about the person they lost if they want too it brings comfort to be able to talk to someone.
Remind them that Jesus is the one who can bring comfort to their heart, but don’t get preachy.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

A great gift

December 10, 2013

Next to The Lord Jesus, the greatest gift we have is a home filled with people we love.
