Youth

March 11, 2014

20140311-063345.jpg
The girl in this picture is Beka, 15 years old and already a soul winner. The 2 young men got saved at Strawberry Festival. There was a total of 213 decisions this year.
Beka loves to be in the booth and started when she was 13. She also works in the office after school 2 days a week. Beka is a great example to other teens.
The youth of America needs to be busy about the Lord’s business.

1 Timothy 4:12
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Spring Ahead, Fall Back

March 10, 2014

Time change. One of the difficult things in life for me is the time change that we, in many states of the USA, go through twice a year.
Spring ahead, fall back is how we remember which way to set our clocks.
Man is always trying to improve what God has done.
God created the times and the seasons and before our lives got so “scheduled”, in simpler times, people got up when it got light and went to bed when it got dark.
If you, like me are finding it difficult to adjust to the new time schedule, let us rejoice that in Heaven there will be no time change. Looking forward to that Day.

Revelation 22:5
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light:and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Jesus is Coming Again

March 9, 2014

“He came the first time to die; He is coming again to raise the dead. When He came the first time, they questioned whether He was King; the next time the world will know that He is King of kings and Lord of lords. The first time He wore a crown of thorns; the next time He will be wearing a crown of glory. The first time He came in poverty; the next time He is coming in power. The first time He had an escort of angels; the next time He will come with ten thousands of His saints. The first time He came in meekness; He is coming again in majesty.”
Adrian Rogers

Acts 1:11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

The Cure For Shot Nerves

March 5, 2014

Thinking of something to encourage those who read this blog, I chose a book on hymns, “Then Sings My Soul” by Robert J. Morgan.
He wrote a forward “The Cure For Shot Nerves”. Thinking that is a catchy title, I read what he wrote about how the old hymns can calm the spirit and help bring peace to the soul.
It is rare in some churches to even hear the old hymns anymore and that is sad.
“In the Garden” He walks with me/ and He talks with me/ and tells me I am His own.
“Jesus Loves Me”, “Amazing Grace”, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and many more that encourage the heart.
Today, if you are stressed, feeling overwhelmed, or just plan discouraged, think of your favorite hymn and sing it, hum it or just let it flood your mind with how good God is, and soon you will find the comfort you need.

Ephesians 5:19
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Amazing Grace

February 20, 2014

John Newton wrote “Amazing Grace” in 1779.
His Godly mother died when he was 7 years old, but not before she taught him Bible verses and hymns, and prayed fervently for him.
He was saved after much sin and many years of service in the British Navy. After a terrific storm at sea, when the sailor thought that all was lost and he was going to die, on March 10, 1748, he gave his life to Christ.
He wrote, “The Lord came to me from on high and delivered me from deep waters.”
He became a powerful preacher, a foe of slavery and wrote hundreds of hymns.
He never forgot his Mother’s influence. We can learn from his experience.
Start teaching our children and grandchildren about The Lord when they are young and even though they may stray, our prayers and training will not be fruitless.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go:
and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Funny Story

February 19, 2014

Billy Graham was returning
to Charlotte after a
speaking engagement
and when his plane arrived there was a limousine there
to transport him to his home. As he prepared to get
into the limo,
he stopped
and spoke to the driver.

“You know”
he said,
“I am 87 years old
and I have never
driven a limousine.
Would you mind if I
drove it for a while?”

The driver said, “No problem. Have at it.”

Billy gets into the driver’s seat and they head off
down the highway.
A short distance away
sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap.
The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.
The trooper pulled out
and easily caught the limo
and he got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure.

The young trooper walked up to the driver’s door
and when the glass
was rolled down,
he was surprised to see
who was driving.

He immediately excused himself and went back to his car
and called his supervisor.

He told the supervisor,
“I know we are supposed to enforce the law….
But I also know that
important people are
given certain courtesies.
I need to know what
I should do because
I have stopped a
very important person.”

The supervisor asked,
“Is it the governor?”

The young trooper said,
“No, he’s more important
than that.”

The supervisor said,
“Oh, so it’s the president.”

The young trooper said,
“No, he’s even more
important than that.”

The supervisor finally asked,
“Well then, who is it?”
The young trooper said,
“I think it’s Jesus,
because he’s got Billy Graham for a chauffeur!”

The First Day of the Week

February 16, 2014

Sunday, the first day of the week, the disciples came together to hear Paul preach. On this Lord’s Day my God bless you as you take time to worship Him. It is the day set aside for Christians to Honor our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Let us clear our minds of worldly things today, and meditate on Him.

Acts 20:7
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

Happy Valentines Day

February 14, 2014

Today is a day set aside to show love to your sweetheart. It is a tradition started in the 5th century.
To some it is a day of happiness as they share their love as a couple, but to others it may be a day of hurt and sadness because of the loss of a spouse or loved one.
The good news is that we all have someone who loves us unconditionally and continually and His name is Jesus. He died in the cross that we might have forgiveness of sins and a home in Heaven.
If you have not received His great love, ask Him to forgive you of all your sin and invite Him into your heart and life.

1 John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him

God Is Love

February 13, 2014

“God proved His love on the cross. When Christ hung and bled and died, it was God saying to the world, “I love you.”
Billy Graham

1 John 4:10
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

A Friend of God

February 12, 2014

There is a song that keeps going through my mind today, “I am a friend of God”. I know that I am a child of God and a servant of God, but to be called a friend of God is the ultimate relationship that I desire.
One of the definitions in the dictionary is: “a favored companion”.
Are you a friend of God?

James 2:23
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness:and he was called the Friend of God.
