Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel. He was Rachel’s firstborn and Jacob’s eleventh son. Of all the sons, Joseph was preferred by his father, who gave him a coat of many colors. Joseph was seventeen years old, he shared with his brothers dreams of his superiority.
The brothers were jealous and sold him into slavery. They meant it for evil but God meant it for good.
Joseph was sold to the Pharaoh. Was thrown into prison. Interpreted Pharaoh’s dream and was given the blessing of being second in command in the nation of Egypt.
He was able to save his family from certain death due to famine in the land. Thus preserving the Nation of Israel.
And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Genesis 50:19&20
