Strawberry festival in Plant City

March 12, 2011

SOS is once again participating in Plant City Florida Strawberry Festival. So far over 150 people have made decisions with 2 more days to go. Please pray with us that today and tomorrow many more will come to Christ.

Autumn News

November 8, 2010

The staff at SOS Events have been extremely busy this fall season. All Events for the Fall have been completed now except for the monthly car show in Plant City.

Tom and Carolyn Curtis have been on the road for the last 3 months, training, speaking and overseeing events in several states. They drove to TN and flew to NJ.  15 school children were saved. Then back to TN and on to Indiana. Seven souls were saved through personal witnessing but 151 people came to know the Lord at James Dean days in Fairmount, In.

Another highlight was a trunk or treat in Sweetser, In, where 45 people made decisions in less than 2 hours. Rushing back to Florida to meet a young man from NC, who came to become part of the ministry, Tom and Carolyn had a great week training Caleb how to become a trainer. At the end of the week, Tom, Carolyn, Caleb and another man from NC named Rusty participated in Antioch Days in Thonotosassa, FL. 35 people came to Christ at that Event.

The Riegels were also busy at this same time period. Most of the events they were part of took place in Ohio with one in Michigan. They saw a total of 77 souls come to know the Lord. Many churches have been trained by Don and Shirley and do events several times a year.

Ivan and Dorinda Cardwell stayed by the stuff in Florida and had several trainings to teach people how to be soul winners at events. One Fall Festival in Plant City yielded 150 souls. Then the next day at a Halloween event there were 17 decisions.

And the car show continues with Mike Fredette as the SOS leader.  Every month at least 3 get saved and the top # is 13. What an opportunity to serve the Lord.

There is more to report but it will come later as the results come into the office.

It is with great Thanksgiving to the Lord that He blesses SOS Events with dedicated workers, opportunity to train new soul winners and the hundreds of people who come to the Lord through this ministry.

I Can Talk to God

August 6, 2010

At a fair in Ohio staff from SOS and some volunteers from a local church was working in the booth. Many people walk by and are curious about what is behind the doors on the display. There is always a sign that says See 3 things God Can Not Do.

One man a grandfather kept walking past the sign and finally came over to the staff worker and asked to see what was behind the doors.

He was shown the doors. 1. God Can Not Lie 2. God Can Not Change
3. God Can Not Let Anyone Into Heaven Unless He is Born Again.

“I’m Catholic”, the man said.

“Are you 50, 75 or 100% sure you would go to Heaven if you died today? The worker asked.

“No, I do not know I am going to Heaven”.

The staff member took Ray to the soul winners table where Ray accepted the Lord then he asked, “Could you get me a Bible? I go to mass every Sunday and after that service I go to a Bible preaching church because I found out there that I can talk to God without going through a priest”.

A few minutes later Ray’s wife walked past the tent and the exact same thing happened. She also was asked the questions, went back to a soul winner and accepted Christ as her Savior.

What a blessing to have a place to witness where people from all faiths have an opportunity to hear that God loves them and they can know Jesus personally. Like Ray said, “I can talk to God.”

Deuteronomy 5:24 And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.

Telephone Conversion

July 29, 2010

To win souls is my hearts desire.

SOS is always in need of supplies and I was on the phone to order a button making machine for our new Kids Klub. As I was finding out information about the machine the Holy Spirit prompted me to ask Adam this question,

“Are you a Christian”?

“Yes“, was the reply.

“Are you a born again Christian”, I asked.

“What’s that”? Adam inquired.

“Do you know the 3 things God can not do”? was my next question and

“Are you 50, 75, or 100% sure if you died today you would go to Heaven“?

“I’m not the least bit sure” Adam said.

“It will take less that 2 minutes to be sure” I explained. Giving him the plan of salvation then praying with him was a great joy to my heart.

I said, “Adam, I heard you ask Jesus to forgive all your sins and come into your heart and make your life new. Did He”?

“Yes”, was Adam’s answer. “Thank you for giving me opportunity to go to Heaven”.

The phone call was ended by a purchase for the equipment SOS needed.
Whenever we do business with a company we try to find Christian suppliers but if that is not possible we try to lead them to the Lord.

Realizing that our time on earth is short we use every opportunity we have to witness and tell others about salvation.

Remembering

July 19, 2010

This week we are busy in the office making many plans for the future. Also, Tom and Carolyn are in the process of writing a book.
When going through some old files we came accross a neat salvation story that we will share today.

SOS staff goes to many different kinds of events. This particular event was a homeless ministry outreach in downtown Tampa, FL. Tom and Carolyn Curtis were invited to bring our display down to the homeless ministry where people came to be fed.

A variety of people came to eat. The SOS team witnessed to many people that day and several were saved, but one woman stands out from the rest at this event. Tom was at the display asking people if they had ever seen the 3 Things God Can Not Do and Carolyn was working the soul winning table.

When the time came for this young woman, Barbara, to pray, she bowed her head to ask Jesus to be her Savior. While she was in an attitude of prayer, Tom noticed her doing something else. She had on a blouse that was unbuttoned that exposed quite a bit of flesh. As she prayed she was buttoning up her blouse until she became most modest.

God changes the heart and our actions. Sometimes He changes a person so that the transformation is immediate.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

(Just a note here. The reason SOS always tries to have at least one male and one female on a team is because of propriety. In today’s world we have to be extremely careful that there is no reason for any accusation or temptation to any staff member)

Curtis’s Return to FL

July 8, 2010

What a successful trip to NC and back. Tom and Carolyn were away for 2 weeks this trip. There were 49 decisions for salvation.
What a privilege to work in VBS with smaller children. One young boy came up and wanted to join the club.
That is a tremendous idea! Kids Klub for SOS. You will be hearing more about this in future postings.
On the road witnessed many times. At one hotel a young teen was looking through the dumpster. He had lost a shoe in the trash. Tom went over and helped him hunt through the garbage. Carolyn and Tom prayed. Smelly victory. The shoe was found immediately. Then Tom was able to talk to the teen and give him information about SOS for his youth pastor. They were in the hotel for a youth conference. God is so good.

VBS Graham, NC

July 1, 2010

Tom and Carolyn Curtis are in North Carolina working with Bethel Baptist Church at their VBS. In 4 days 41 children have been saved. Tonight, July 1st, there will be a churchyard event called Patriotic Explosion. They are expecting almost 1000 people to come to the event and praying for many to be saved. The weather has turned from close to 100 degree heat to the low 80′s and this will bring many out. Fireworks and free food is a great encouragement to come to Bethel tonight. Pray for souls.

Tom Curtis Recovering from Pneumonia

June 2, 2010

Even as Tom recovers from a very serious bout with pneumonia, he is still a witness for the Lord. While waiting for an x-ray today, Tom and Carolyn were talking about a book they are trying to write. A woman sitting in the waiting room asked Tom if he was a minister. He said, yes.
She started to cry and said, “Would you pray for me. I am so afraid?”
After a few questions, she revealed that her husband had died just a year ago with a blood clot and that was what her test was for.
She got called into the office right then but Tom and Carolyn prayed for her. When she came out she said that the tests were OK and was thankful for the prayer.
She explained she had been saved as a child, so was given a tract and she left.
That gave Tom the opportunity to hand out about 10 tracts to all who were in the office at that time.
Everyone appreciated it and the conversation was about the “3 Thing God Can Not Do” as Tom and Carolyn left the office.
Tom is a diligent soul winner and even when not feeling well that does not stop him from being a witness for the Lord.
All the prayers, phone calls and cards are appreciated. Please continue to pray for Tom’s fast recovery.

Office Assistant Testimony

May 25, 2010

Opportunities come our way, but unless we take them we might not ever know the outcome.
In my case, an opportunity was presented to me and I took it! Let me set the stage . . . a few days prior, Tom met a young man and planted the seed of salvation. The other evening, Carolyn planted more seed via the phone. With prayer for this young man’s soul, the Holy Spirit was already at work on his life. Today this young man stopped by the SOS Events ministries headquarters and I had the privilege of sharing with him the Three Things God Cannot Do. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior! Now he is 100% sure he will spend eternity in heaven. What a blessing for the Lord to use someone such as me to make a difference in another person’s eternity.

That is what it’s all about. Just be willing to share. We can’t get to heaven through church attendance or by being a good person. Yes, these are great things to do or be but when it comes right down to it, all we have to do is admit that we are a sinner, believe that God sent His Son, Jesus, to pay for our sin on the cross when He died for us and confess to the Lord by repenting and inviting him to be part of our life. It is that easy. Remember, once you have accepted the Lord you have become His child and no one can take that from you.

So blessed to be part of the SOS Events ministry,
Diana
