69 Year Old Trusts Christ at Car Show

Car Shows are a favorite events for the Staff at SOS. One of the big church car shows is in the little sleepy town of Dover, FL. Actually just a mile or two from our headquarters.

Even though this event is only minutes from our property we have been unable to attend one of the car shows previously because of scheduling conflicts. However, we finally connected and what a surprise, over 300 old cars were registered and all food and activities are free.

As we sat waiting and praying for people to check out the “3 Things God Can Not Do” an older gentleman stopped by to see what was going on. His vintage truck was parked right behind our booth, but we did not know that at the time. He must have been listening as we presented the Gospel to several others before he came to see for himself.

He said he was not 100% sure he was going to Heaven but would like to be.

As he came back to the soul winners table, he was so humble as he told the soul winner he wanted to be saved.

As she presented the ABC’s of salvation to Tommy, tears rolled down his cheeks. It was a tremendous blessing to hear Tommy pray and invite Jesus to be his Savior.

He said, “I have just been diagnosed with lung cancer.” As his tears continued to flow, the soul winner felt led to call others to gather round and pray for him.

Tommy left that booth knowing for sure he is going to Heaven. What a blessing that we can know.

Sometimes God uses a diagnosis of a disease to get our attention and we are so thankful that God used SOS to assure this man of his eternal home in Heaven. Also, to give peace in time of trials. What a wonderful Savior.

121 Saved in Indiana

Ivan and Dorinda Cardwell, Tom and Carolyn Curtis, from Florida, Don and Shirley Riegel, from Ohio all headed to Indiana for 2 large events, Duck Tail Run and James Dean Days. Scott and Joyce Weaver and several other trained workers participated in these 2 great events. Workers came from 3 area churches. Fairmont, IN the birthplace of James Dean (the actor), hosts James Dean Days and Gas City, IN hosts Duck Tail Run. Both towns are rich in history and fun places to visit. The local people are gracious and very helpful. This makes the trip fun, profitable and always exciting.

Duck Tail Run is a new event for SOS. In spite of all the rain we are thrilled to have seen 14 souls come to know the Lord. A special thanks goes to Larry Leach, mayor of Gas City, for helping us get set up at Duck Tail Run.

SOS has set up a booth at James Dean Days for the last 5 years and God is always faithful to give us souls at this event. 103 were saved this year regardless of closing early due to bad weather. Thanks to all the faithful workers who participated.

Indiana is also home of the Gaither Family whose store, home and recording studio is only about 10 miles from where were camped. Our staff is grateful to Wesleyan Campground for allowing us to stay in their cabins and park at the campground. They are gracious hosts.

78 Saved at Community Event

Thank you for your prayers for Saturday, August 13. God gave a great harvest. Families came to the YMCA Camp in Riverview, FL to get back to school backpacks for their children. SOS was invited to participate in this event and several volunteers and staff were able to work this 4 hour event.

78 people were saved and now SOS is in the process of following up on them to make sure they get a Bible study and an opportunity to fellowship in a local church.

Praise the Lord for His faithfulness, for dedicated SOS workers and for the many souls that were saved.

Autumn News

The staff at SOS Events have been extremely busy this fall season. All Events for the Fall have been completed now except for the monthly car show in Plant City.

Tom and Carolyn Curtis have been on the road for the last 3 months, training, speaking and overseeing events in several states. They drove to TN and flew to NJ. 15 school children were saved. Then back to TN and on to Indiana. Seven souls were saved through personal witnessing but 151 people came to know the Lord at James Dean days in Fairmount, In.

Another highlight was a trunk or treat in Sweetser, In, where 45 people made decisions in less than 2 hours. Rushing back to Florida to meet a young man from NC, who came to become part of the ministry, Tom and Carolyn had a great week training Caleb how to become a trainer. At the end of the week, Tom, Carolyn, Caleb and another man from NC named Rusty participated in Antioch Days in Thonotosassa, FL. 35 people came to Christ at that Event.

The Riegels were also busy at this same time period. Most of the events they were part of took place in Ohio with one in Michigan. They saw a total of 77 souls come to know the Lord. Many churches have been trained by Don and Shirley and do events several times a year.

Ivan and Dorinda Cardwell stayed by the stuff in Florida and had several trainings to teach people how to be soul winners at events. One Fall Festival in Plant City yielded 150 souls. Then the next day at a Halloween event there were 17 decisions.

And the car show continues with Mike Fredette as the SOS leader. Every month at least 3 get saved and the top # is 13. What an opportunity to serve the Lord.

There is more to report but it will come later as the results come into the office.

It is with great Thanksgiving to the Lord that He blesses SOS Events with dedicated workers, opportunity to train new soul winners and the hundreds of people who come to the Lord through this ministry.

Harrison Rally Day – Riegel’s Report

(by Don and Shirley Riegel) Our church had a booth at Harrison Rally Day (HRD). The “Three Things God Cannot Do” were presented to 203 people of which there were 26 decisions to trust Christ (17 for the first time and 9 for assurance). We had six workers at the booth plus one who was trained two years ago and was not on the schedule. Pray that our church will do more outreach events like this and that all members and young people will take the training. One rather shy man had tried to witness to people before, but he had not seen anyone receive Christ as Savior as the result of his effort until HRD. He had twelve people pray to be saved including five girls at one time. When asked “Do you plan to use the SOS method again and would you encourage others to take the training and work at the booth?”, he said “yes!”

Testimony from a Shy Soul Winner“Achieving God’s purpose involves taking faith filled risks (Heb. 11:6). That’s exactly what I did recently when I stepped out of my comfort zone and, in faith, took the SOS training. I followed the Holy Spirit’s leading to bring others to Christ at the recent Harrison Rally Days.
Taking a faith filled risk, is one of our core values, and I feel SOS gives me more passion now to tell others about Jesus. It will help me to be more of a “doer of the Word and not just a hearer only.” WW (OH)

Report from Sweetser, Indiana

Pastor Bishir in Indiana writes in his blog posting “Monday Report” on September 28th, “The last several days for me have been filled with some good things. On Friday I went to help with our James Dean Festival Outreach. We got there about 11 a.m. and spent the entire day until about 8 p.m. working our evangelistic booth. We teamed up with Tom & Carolyn Curtis of SOS Events who are seasoned soul winners and what a great three days of witnessing too and winning of souls for the Lord. On Friday it rained much of the day and the crowds were smaller but by the end of the day we had seen nearly 40 teens and adults give their lives to Christ. Each sincerely repented and prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior. Last night in church we were given the final count of those who received the Lord. It was reported that 167 people had come to know the Lord. Praise the Lord! What great stories behind each conversion. I will take some time this week and share some of these beautiful stories. But not only were people saved but more were witnessed to and the seed was sown and for many others the seed was fertilized. Thank the Lord His seed will never go return void.”

Youth Evangelism Training

In August, SOS Events hosted a youth evangelism training program for Faith Baptist Church of New Jersey at the ministry’s Florida headquarters. This video, produced by the youth group on their return home, shows the highlights of their trip and events. SOS Events provides youth evangelism training programs at their Dover Florida facility and at church locations around the country.

Oregon Fest

Don & Shirley Riegel trained several workers for the Oregon Festival and that group saw 16 saved in just a few hours. What a wonderful harvest of souls.

Washboard Festival

Ivan and Dorinda Cardwell traveled to Ohio in June where approximately 25 people were trained to win souls to Christ. Many said it was the first time they ever had the boldness to witness. 100 people were saved at the festival and the soul winners were Praising the Lord.

Jimmy Dean Days – Fairmount Indiana

Tom and Carolyn Curtis trained a church this past week, and lead them in serving in the Lord’s harvest in Fairmont Indiana this past weekend. The Jimmy Dean Days is an annual event in this Indiana community. The Curtis’ and other church workers witness 139 decisions for Christ. These new Christians were from 32 different cities and 3 States. In my conversation with Tom today, he shared that the harvest could have been as high as 400 if there had been more workers. I have to admit, I was so amazed at the different stories Tom was sharing today, I was not able to get more details on paper. However, I pray he and Carolyn will post here sometime soon, and share more. PTL! The numbers are of course secondary to the actual lives and stories witnessed by those saved at the event. Glory Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ!
